Pye’s Pocket Report: The Storm Breaks

I know I usually send my missives by other means, but the window only opens twice a month, and I felt this warranted immediate publication—hence what the human female calls “a blog post.”

Hello Darlings,

It appears that the humans are celebrating something they are calling, “the launch” or “A Storm in the Mind Book Launch.” It baffles me. Apparently, the official launch will occur at the Orlando Reads Books convention, but there will be no rockets launched, labeled Storm or otherwise. Instead, authors and readers are gathering in a most excitable fashion to laud BOOKS in a variety of genres.

The Female is fully engaged in this activity. For weeks there has been much clicking of keys, tapping of screens, and—most recently—a flurry of packing.

The Human Departs for Orlando

I am told I would not enjoy the trip. Too many people. Too much squealing. I find myself inclined to agree. The Female has gone, but The Male remains, and the house is blessedly calmer for it. At last, a proper environment for a nap.

Lilith’s Unfortunate Confusion

Lilith, of course, is baffled by the entire affair. She asked, in her usual breathless way, if we ought to prepare for thunder. I explained—in very simple terms so as not to overtax her tiny mind—that this “storm” is not weather but words. The Female’s latest creation, A Storm in the Mind, has been unleashed upon the universe.

Books, Reviews, and Stars

Humans, it seems, pay each other to read these things. Reviews are left. Stars are given. All in the interest of A Storm in the Minds book launch. Entire communities chatter about it as though it were more important than a proper bask in a sunbeam.

Cake and Other Celebrations

Lilith was disappointed there were no treats involved, but perked up considerably when I suggested humans sometimes celebrate such events with cake. She has gone in search of it.

I will, of course, maintain my usual vigilance. The humans can revel as they please. I remain ever watchful.

Love always,
Pye
